Default 2007 Wide Glide rebuild - pictures.

Few months ago I bought damaged `07 Wide Glide. the plan was to build a "custom" but now I got new plan . the first point is to sell WG but we will see...

Bike was quite much damaged. Front end went in to a history (I need new wheel, fork tubes, mirrors, fender etc.)
About a month ago I started the rebuild .

Rear wheel removed - I need to put all electrical stuff back in the frame.

Next day I put a tank on it, attached fuel line (that was hard to get [:@]), new chrome voltage regler and...

Started the engine in a 4-5 minutes the rear head pipe turned red (**** - I heard that those new Harleys runs lean but...)

Last week I bought some parts. New break rotor, derby cover, head lamp, front fender (made in Taiwan -new and it was bent from thefactory), clutch lineand turn signals.

This week I removed all stuff from the tank.

Fuel tank looks like it is made of stainless steel (damnn thick steel - about 1 mm).

Fuel pump, fuel gauge and other patrs.

I hope at the end of next week I will have all the parts painted. I also want ot replace clutch lineand derby cover and I need some help: how much oil I should put in transmission and to the primary? Are the oil level check (in transmission) in streight bike or on a jiffy stand?

Thanks in advance.

if i'm not mistaken fork oil is 12 ounces and the oil is 3 quarts and the trans is 24 ounces and the primary is 26 ounces i'm sure if any of this is wrong some one will chime in.

Kamil, questions like this are not always as easy as simply quoting a number.

transmission - approximately one quart.

primary - approximately one quart.

forks, see below, and take note of the NOTE.

this is from the 06 Dyna manual.
Should be the same for 07,
but, doublecheck me in the 07 manual.

Good luck with that project. A big part of me is jealous. Another part of me says F- that you've got a brand new bike with no need to peel it apart and reassemble. Anyway Thanks for the pictures I'm sure it will come out awesome. Keep up the good work. and keep us informed.

A great thread.

Thx for all the replies. No pictures this time I forgot to take some during fork desasembly - fork lowers were welded (they had some deep scraches) and polished.

I founded some more info about oils in internet and it says : engine 2.5 quart trans and primary 32 oz. I`m quite convused [&:]but the trans has dipstick so I will know is the oil level corect. The primary takes the same amoun oil as trans so after filling the trans I will know how much oil I need for primary.

mudpuddle -> thx for posting the instruction. The forks on 06-07 Dyna`s seems to be the same. It seems quite complicated. I always just filled the shock with proper amount of oil and finito.Does I need 787cm (26.6 oz) of oli for ONE shock??! The 39mm forks neds about 290-315cm. That looks like

You see the tank in my previous post? I want to paint it in the same style (I don`t know how to decribe it- but the paint is lucent* and you can see the metal under the paint) but using red paint. I bougt the red paint (quite expensive)and my friend painted the bike but... I looked terrible.Bike was not redbut pink (****!!). Last week I boght new paint - blue.

Due to lack of time my rebuild is still not finished (but I hope to finish it this month ). Few days agoo I assembled the front suspension.

Lower legs were polished and I replaced the fork tubes (they were bent).
Than was quite easy. the only problem was with the top cap - you need to be a superman toturn it in alone.

Critter is dead-on with the numbers he gave you. A touring model takes 32 oz in the primary but the Dyna's take only 26. The trannys all take 24 oz. Manuel says 3 qts in the engine but you'll get a little blow-by thru the air filter until it gets down to about 2 3/4 qts.
No personal experience with the forks.
