Default front fender more near to the tire?

How to put the front fender more near to the tire? I would like to have a less visible fender in my black street bob...

there was a post a while ago about flipping the bracket around that is under the fender... i am pretty sure that is what ED did... may want to ask him... I took my stock fender off and brought it to a buddy that does carbon fiber... he is going to make me a fender that has a real short front and big back... then i can make it hug the tire ... should look good... i like the big swoop fenders

He's talking about lowering the fender.Which can be done just not very much. You can lower it about 1/2" by redrilling the mounting bracket, which I did.I also removed the bracket and moved the fender a few inches back and re attached it.

The problem with the stock fender is that it doesnt fit the profile or curvatureof the tire,so even when you mod the brackets to lower the fender it still doesnt look right unless you move the fender back. It will look better but still won't be right. Mine is moved back so the after portion of the fender aligns with the tire but the front section in front of the tubes sticks up a good bit from the tire compared to the back.

Good Luck

Tom

Dave - the builders tape gas line / hose to the tire and set the fender down on it to mark the mounting hole location. This ensures close but a no-rubbing fit.
Like to see what you come up with...

will gas line give enough clearance for the tire. i know tire swells when riding. i amabout to mount a new Russ weirmont fender and want to make sure i get enough space so i don't end up with a tire rub.

I'm fitting an Avon 110/90 x 19. Slightly wider and larger diameter. Think it's about 0.8" larger dia and 0.4" wider.

Might close the gap a bit and give me a soaking in the rain with the overhang [:@]

The stock fender is metal, right? Can't it just be slightly reshaped to follow the curve of the tire better? I suppose that may mess up the paint but it seems like it would be pretty minor.

I wouldn't try it unless you have some kind of professional metal working tools that I don't have. The metal is very thin.If you try to bend it by hand it will crease, hell if you drop it, it'll dent.Once I took mine off and it slipped out of my hand and fell about two feet onto my lift.It picked up a dime sized dent that took me days with a soft hammer, filler and paint to get right again.I do think a bigger tire will help though.
