Default Progressive 11 inch shocks on a WG ??

Is any one running 11 inch shocks on a Wide Glide?
I am considering Progressive 412's @ 11 inch for my 02 wide glide and was wondering if you have experienced any troubles with them bottomoing out. I drag my pipes now, will this make a difference? I do not want to have to change my riding style, but do think the bike will lokk good dropped in the tail end.

I threw a set of 11" on my '99. It looked pretty damn good, slammed down low like that. The only problem was the tail light housing. It cleared the tire by 1/2", IF that! The thought of bottoming out the tail light, ripping it off and getting caught up between the fender and tire didn't seem like a good idea, so the shocks came off.
BTW, that's a sweet looking ride you have there![sm=icon_rock.gif]

Thanks for the feedback TC.
I have replaced my tail light assembly with one from a softail, tucked up under the fender tighter. I will definately check the clearance before I proceed.
Did you get to ride with them on at all?

Might want to try the Heavy Duty 412's or crank up the settings on the standard 412's - ride is a lot firmer and handling is far superior to stockers. I've experienced no bottoming, granted it's a different fender though.

You're welcome Mr.E. I did, went around the neighborhood for a spin. Definitely a stiffer ride, but looked and felt like a completely different bike. I did bottom the light out on the tire, so that was that, put the originals back on.

i put the 412 HD 11 on mine and have never had a problem with the fender. have scraped the bottom
of the bike a couple of times if a hit a bad pot hole and i try to avoid big speed bumps. you can look in my gallery to see what they look like.

If you're worried about hitting the tail light you might want to try something like this

or just get a side mount tail light / plate set up. Either way will give you plenty of room for lowering it and putting in a bigger tire.

even though I agree w/chipstah on most issues. I have to say think twice about the hd (hev duty). If you alone are well over 200lbs its ok. but if not those hd's set low will feel like a rigid, don't ask me how I know [:@]

Can a person go the other way? I'd like to raise the rear by 1" to increase the suspension travel (longer stroke on the shock).
