Default Low price on Low Rider?

Was at the local dealer this past Saturday. I've been quietly looking at the Low Riders and Superglide Customs. He has (3) 2007 Low Riders for $16,500 - $2500 gift card. I'm guessing his initial quote was plus tax, title, freight and every other prep charge. This puts the bike at roughly $14k plus prep and taxes of about $840. This seems like a pretty good deal. I'm guessing even with some heavy prep charges, I'd still be getting the bike OTD at below MSRP.

Since its winter here in Michigan (just started snowing today) and I won't be riding for another6 months, I can wait. I just don't want tomiss out on a good deal on a 2007 and end up payingtop dollar this spring for a 2008 (because I am buying one before next spring). Any ideas on a midwest/winter pricing strategy and what I should end up paying .

Thanks!

By the way, I've been lurking here for MONTHS (girlfriend is SO sick of hearing about all the HD information I've found here) and I believe this is my first post!

That's about what I payed for mine, but I ride every(ice-free)day year-round so I couldn't wait for Spring. My guess is it goes fast and will not be lowered. You will not find a new low rider in that range again until next fall when the 08s are being dumped for 09s. No reason to wair 'till spring unless it's to save money.

Howdy and Welcome from another Michigander. Sounds like a OK price. Mind saying what dealer? BTW, I ride all year, as long as the roads are dry and no salt has been applied. Just takes more layers between the inner(polyprop long johns) and outer(leather chaps, jacket, etc.) layer.

American Harley Davidson in Ann Arbor. If you're heading in there to buy one don't buy the last red one....I'm hoping its mine.

Don't worrry, I'm happy with my (Street) Bob. Have you tried any other stealers(dealers)? I think there'sastealerin Brighton. I know ABC in Waterford has no Fat Bob's yet. How About Capital in Dimondale?

Sounds like a pretty good deal to me but you might try to get the dealer to eat the set-up/freight if you come in ready to do the deal since his quote was his first attempt to sell you a bike. If you love a particular color, I might not hesitate if it's the last one out there. And I certainly wouldn't count on it being there late Winter/early Spring. As for '08s, production is being cut back on most models, so there might not be much leftover when the '09s hit the showrooms. Buy it and get yourself an early Christmas present!

I have to agree with Chipster. If it is truly the bike you want in the right color go and get it. You can polish and caress it during the winter months. When spring gets here you'll be ready to go!

What's with the gift card? Is he letting you take that off the price of the bike or giving you a $2500 card for paying MSRP on the bike? May not seem like it but there's a big difference in actual dollars depending on which it is.

Also, freight is a true charge the dealer has to pay on the bike. He should be able to work with you on prep though. Some dealers don't charge prep/setup.

Are you sold on the LR or still considering the FXDC? MSRP on a 08 FXDC is a good deal without any "fuzzy math".

Here's what I paid...
Sticker said > 16,135
Freight > 300
Prep > 260
Document service (WTH ? ) > 100
Title & filing fees > 25.50

Total = $16,820.

I got the 08 LRCandy red sunglow myself. Very pretty color, especially when the sun hits that gold metalflake in the paint.
The onlyoptions were the Security system and the smooth spoked rims. I can't understand why they couldn't eat that security option, I mean do they actually sell any without it ???
