Looking to get a bigger headlight and HID
Maybe it's 'cause I'm getting older or because bike's have only one headlight but I'm thinking about getting this on my Bob:

with this:

Gonna relocate the turnsignals with Kuryakyn stems as well.
Then I'll be done.......(right).

RE: Looking to get a bigger headlight and HID
first try changing the bulb, from the stock bulb. i changed mine with a sylvaina silverlight and it wwas the best 20.00 i have ever spent. 50% brighter and its a white light, instead of the stock yellowishdim headlight. it only takes 5 minutes to change also. i would try it first before dropping that kind of money. think its only 20.00. i tell eveyone to change to it. its night and day the difference.jackyl

RE: Looking to get a bigger headlight and HID
I use and sell HID. I have a 5 3/4" headlamp. When I was heading up to Spearfish from Sturgis around midnight I rode over a rise and the headlamp could be seen on the mountain in front of us, on Hi-Beam activated. The light I use is ice white 6500 Kelvin (frequency). The light runs cool, much cooler than the bulbs listed above. I like the results of HID. I would try and find a kit that when you switch from Hi-Lo beam, just the bulb moves. The killer of HID is when you turn on/of. They last on average of 2000 hours compaired to the 100 hours of the good 100 w bulbs others are talking of. $20 X 20 times = 2000 hours.

I have some experience with HID on Mercedes, yeah these things are cool when they turn on, looks like someone must be doing a bit of arc welding out in front of your bike, like a weird flickering. Worth the price alone! They do take about 15-30 seconds to get up to full brightness.

Go to their web site: http://www.sylvania.com/ConsumerProd...ting/ECatalog/
Click onto this link: SilverStar® Halogens
Go to Line No. 3, P/N H4 ST, Design Watts: 55,Rated Life: 150
Or to the brighter Design on the next line, Watts: 60, Rated Life: 50
My facts used in this is going by the average of SilverStar ® Halogens printed material.
There is nothing wrong with any lighting. The lumens (footcandle) it produces and light frequency that the light source produces to distinguish contrast is the point. A rider who rides 100 hours at night using his headlight in three years has an option of upgrading or not. The tradeoff between cost/hours used would be the owners choice. As pre “includes 21,000 miles on it” would be very great service on this light bulb indeed. A far superior lightbulb than any other Halogen option out there. If going Halogen, this would be my choice as the company devalues its service life drastically.
