Ed, the fender I'm working on is from some sort of Honda cruiser and it has six built in mounting points already. I'm going to alter them slightly, but I don't see why a person couldn't weld in mounts to a stock fender where they were needed. I'm just getting tired of taping up my fender for trips, but it does work. First, on a clean fender lay down a layer of the wide blue painters tape (rubber adhesive)then, over that a layer of duct tape. On top of that I use some non slip open weave rubber mat to go between the tape and whatever I'm carrying. PITA, but works really well.

I did this a while back, but ended up selling the fender to a member on here.

He was supposed to post pics after he got it painted, but I don't think he ever did.

I kind of like this version better than the upward cut style:

Hey cynic I actually have a perfectly good Motherwell luggage rack I can bolt up if I need it for traveling the bike just looks so clean I'm hesitant to try hauling anything on it.I was thinking of maybe laying down some non skid tape on the back fender as sort of an extream low profile luggage rack but then I had an even better idea I think a leather fender bib would be about perfect. It could protect the fender when I wanted to bungee something to it without messing up the lines of the bike.

Mascman I like that cut too except for two things, one it would have been a tough cut for me to make straight with the tools I have and two I would have had an extra three holes to patch up.For my next project I've already started playing with my front fender.I'm taking it off the mount, patching up the holes and rolling it back.Stay tuned...

Love how your fender came out
Thanks, I'm pretty happy with how it came out but I'm amazed at all the positive feedback I've got since posting it to the forum. This was a pretty low buget project since I already had most of what I needed. It was really more of an exercise in patience than anything else.I spent more time trying to match the paint than the actual cutting ,shaping and sanding of the fender itself which was done in about two afternoons.I was also painting the rear shocks, the turn signals and a few other things so it felt like there was more to it than there actually was.

That's the rear end that belongs on the "Bob", What seperates the Posers from the rest of us is not being scared to go out and buy a brand new whatever, Take it home, and cut it up!!!!
