A 180 went right on my Wide Glide without any kit. Looks and rides great.

 

If the wheel is not made wider, the tyre may fit... well... sounds like it will deffinitally fit. But it won't be the same profile it would be on a wider wheel. Sorry if I am statng the obvious. A 180 may fit, but was you will mostly get is a taller wheel rather than a wider wheel. My plan is to ride out my stock rear, save a little as I go, by the time it's out, should have enought to replace it will a 200 and get the appropriate kit for it. Might as well wait and do it right I think.

Oh, and agian, sorry if I am stating the obvious. If you do change out that rear without the kit and get a taller tyre you will be effectivly changing your final dirve ratio. Heck you'll increase your top speed a little, and slow down just a tad on the accell. Probably not much... may not even notice, but it's another thing to think about if you're going to do this.

 

Which tire did you buy? SG might be different than the WG. As for the taller tire issue.my understanding is the 180 refers to width and leave all the other dimensions the same, problem would be fitment in width.

 

The Dunlop SE 180. I know it'll wear faster, but I got it for $30 as a warranty replacement upgrade. I plan o doing a 200 conversion with a 5.5 rim next.
