you can just get a strap wrench from any place that sells tools and it works fine.

Stock suck... air shocks rock... I will never get tired of saying it.... THEY ARE THE BEST MOD I HAVE EVER DONE! I ride on a cloud and can adjust for 2 up or touring, yes touring, from chicago to Key west that is touring to me.... get air pay the money and you will not regret it! .... before the bombard or PROGRESSIVE comes.... I have never rode a bike with progressive shocks so i am not saying if they are better or worse.... I am just saying compared to stock and the countless other bikes i have rode I FEEL that the air shocks are SICK!

This is one of those items that the HD website says "in-store purchase only". I don't understand that. When that happens, I just google the p/n and find places like http://www.latus-harley-davidson.com...9-plist-2.html where it can be ordered online.

I'd definitely check out some new shocks, as the stockers are pretty sad. I'd recommend the Progressives, have had them for years and they work great. I'm 200+ and never bottom out with the Progressive Suspension ones.
How difficult is it to change the shocks? Do new ones bolt right on or do they need to be somehow compressed or expanded to fit?

It depends if your using stock or different length shocks.Pretty much need a bike jack, if your gonna do it right. You have to unload the weight off the back tire, kinda like changing a car tire.
