I got the pillow top cause they didn't have the sundowner seat. It was pretty much close to the same.

Grayzone,

I've been looking into the same thing and the majority feel it does increase the seat height slightly and possibly moves your riding position forward a bit. A lot seems to depend on your height and inseam length. If you do a search on "sundowner" you'll have reading material to last you a week. On the positive side, almost everyone thinks it's a very comfortable seat especially for the passenger.

I have the Sundowner on my 07 FXD. It is a good seat an comfortable for long rides. The seat does sit me up higher around 2".

I've got the Sundowner on my FXDL. It's MUCH better than stock for distance rides, but still not great. It does sit me up higher than the stocker, but not sure about closer tho. Overall, I like it.

It doesnt matter which bike you put it on, it IS going to sit you up,
and it IS going to move you forward.
A very comfortable seat though.

I got the Sundowner (HD Part # 51540-06) this past Friday 09/21/07. I was happy with the stock seat, but my passenger was not.

Another member PM'd me for pictures so I uploaded them a few minutes ago in response to the PM. I'll post them here so you can see it on a Wide Glide. I'm 6' Tall and it feels just fine:

I have the Sundowner. Had one on my Sporty too before the 07 FXD. It does sit you a little higher, which I countered by putting on FXDL shocks and lowering the front end a little. The seat is very comfortable.
Wife and I like to ride together and the Sundowner makes it possible to ride farther and much longer comfortably.

It's a great seat and VERY comfy for passengers. I have one in mint condition for sale. $175 UPS shipped to the continental US.

I think your question is probably already answered well and consistently but I'll add my 2 cents. I had the Sundowner on my FXDC. I got it primarily for my wife when she rides as she was getting the butt-buzzes bad on the stock seat. She liked it much better and, surprisingly, I did too. However, without a doubt it moves you up a couple of inches and I felt like it also moved me forward a little bit which I didn't like. Last week, I arranged a trade with tbone52 on here to trade my Sundowner to put on his lowrider for his Tallboy to put on my FXDC. The first impressions by each of us were that we liked each other's seat based on our individual heights. The Tallboy is basically just like the Sundowner except that instead of moving you slightly forward compared to stock, it moves you almost 2 inches back. However it also moves you up 2 inches.

Any seat that has more padding is going to raise you up. If you are looking for more comfort without more height, you need to check into some gel or air bladder inserts for your seat.
