2006 Dyna Low Rider EFI

When I click the button for the RUN position to initiate the fuel pump, in addition to the normal whining sound I now have a louder sound that almost sounds like a vibration....

The bike is running okay and this sound is heard almost everytime I clickto the run position before starting up.

Any ideas?

 

Mine does the same thing every so often, particularly when hot.

Fortunately, i was able to get the bike to make the sound when i took my bike for the 1,000 mile service @ the dealership, and the service manager (who really knows his stuff) told me that it's a fairly common thing, and that there is nothing wrong with it.

 

Well that is a relief! If anyone else has any input that would be great... just in case we aren't talking about the identical issue here.

 

Could be a leaky hose inside the tank connected to the fuel pump. Once the fuel pump pressurizes if there is a hole, even pinsize in the hose it will make a sound. Mine developed this problem but it took about 4 years or so.

 

What is the repair cost for this? Safe to leave it alone for now or should I get this fixed ASAP?

Would it be considered a warranty repair?

 

Mine does it too. I think it does it more often when the bike is left on the stand as opposed to being upright. I have read elsewhere it is nothing to worry about and so far no problems for me.

 

Mine does it every once in awhile.

I'm not worried.

 

Sounds like you shouldn't sweat it Dean. The only way I knew mine was leaking is that when the gas in the tank got below the hole in the hose it ran strange.

 

my 05 fxdli doesn't make that noise should i be worried?
