Default Winter Storage at local dealer

So, I am considering the following deal offered at my local HD dealer:

Winter storage at the facility (heated) from October thru April 1st.
All fluids drained, battery placed on smart charge. Call in spring one week ahead of pick-up, and they re-fill fluids, inspect the bike, test ride it, and you pick it up.

Cost: $295.00 total. NOT per month.

Worth it? Smart?

I guess if you don't have a garage or something to keep your bike in AND you don't plan on riding it for six months... But then, what you should save on insurance would cover the cost of storage. I'd do it if I knew for sure I wasn't going to ride and had no other storage options.

So basically 60 bucks a month with a free oil change. I guess that's alright if you lay up your bike for 6 months. I ride year round, even if I didn't, I'd want my bike in my garage where I can keep an eye on it, not crammed in a garage bay somewhere with umpteen other bikes and having God-knows-who messing around with it during the storage.

Doesnt sound bad if you have no other options. If you want it out early lets say March 1st do you get a break in price?

Up here in the northeast, once late October settles in, there are not many days - maybe only a handful - that even venture into the 60's. Then come end of November, early december the deep freezes start to come in and after march, it's a mixed bag of crap and cold.

Now, before someone calls me a name that is best left for either a feline or part of the human female anatomy, I have to say that part of the reason I enjoy riding is getting out in the nice weather on 2 wheels. That cannot really be done safely or enjoyably from October to April around here. Just my opinion.

Let me guess... Whidbey Island? If you do not plan on riding and do not have a place to store it then it would be a good deal. Wish I had something similar when I was in Germany. I had to store mine outside under a cover.

Not bad considering plain storage rental around here is about $55 /month and you are getting the fluid changed also.

It's the same way where I'm from in northern WI. My parents average 200 inches of snow per winter. A really good winter for them is hitting the 300 inch mark. No felines for not riding there...
