I run 32 in front and 38 in rear. For your size you may want to go 33 in front and 40 in rear.

Please explain how it will shorten tire life, this I gotta hear.
Because the number on the side of a tire is typically max pressure and doesn't correspond with recommended pressure for your vehicle, inflating your tires to that pressure is essentially over-inflation and the tires wear as such.

the psi is on the tires.

i run 42 in the rear for two up

andabout 38 in front
Don't know about the front, but I would run at least 44 lbs in the rear. Metz's like much more air. I think max on the Metz rear is 50 psi.

DougJ
38 is too much in the front.

mud
I have the Metzler 880's and I've been running 40 front/rear. Should I decrease the front?

I'm 6'3" 300lbs and i run 31 in the front, and 36 in the back, 40 in the back with a passenger. I have my shocks set on #2 and i never bottom out. I carry a wrench to kick up the shocks when i put on a passenger, and if i'm going further them across town i air up the back.

I find that about 10% under what the tire manufactor recommends as max pressure works well on my bikes.

I'm guessing, who would know more about the tires? HD (the manual), or the tire maker? I'd have to go with what I see on the tire. I have an '06 Dyna Low Rider. I'm sure the tires have gotten better since then. I have a Dunlop D401 up front, and psi reads 41 cold. When I first got the bike last December '16, I tried the manual at 32 psi. When I would brake normal, front tire felt like a marshmallow, and unstable. Even the tire tread is loudly heard like it was a flat tire. So I picked a middle point of 38psi, and it feels, and corners well.
