One Step Closer To Race Day...
So I've been wanting to get my bike on the dyno and then go from there to the track to see what it could do...
I was told by my friend Scott up @ Hillside Motorcycle and Machine that I was going to need a kill switch for any run under under 11 seconds in the quarter mile.. So I took his word for it cuz I know he's been racing for a long time, drag bikes, Harleys..
So I got myself a pingle kill switch mounted up to the bars and I bought all the connectors to put it in series with my thumb kill switch up on my hand controls..
But for some reason it wasn't working.. I spent like 2 hours making the connectors getting them all together cuz I didn't want to splice into the wire harness and rube the things up.. I do have a BCM but I don't know what role that plays with putting a switch in line with the hand control kill switch... It didn't work and I don't know why so I scratch that idea I put all that back together and say I give it a shot underneath the dashboard to the ignition switch which also goes through the BCM..
Walla, It worked perfect and it was a hell of a lot less time I should have just done it that way the first time..
Note to anybody that's looking to do this, learn from my mistakes..
So I lost 2 hours labor and $32 in parts connectors pins etc but whatever... The only thing that does matter is that it does work now and I know the bike will pass inspection at the track...
Now I just got to get up to Scott's, throw it on the dyno and then from there to the track... That's going to be a couple weeks out so we'll see what happens..
Here's some pics of the first way I did it and then the second way I did it under the dash and I'm series with the ignition switch..

I used a tether like the link, I was pretty sure it had went to M2020.
Another good thing to have is a battery powered air compressor, to get the tires back up to normal.
I ran 10 lbs or so, in the rear and 40 in the front.
if I rode the bike it was at least 75 miles to ESTA in Cicero/Syracuse and 100 to South Butler.

Is the Snell rated helmet AHDRA, AMA… is it just that dragstrip or a National association thing. DOT fullface was all that was required in the early 2000’s in Ohio, Indiana & Pennsylvania. In 2008 I made a few passes here in Florida and they didn’t say a word about my 10 year old DOT Bell fullface.

ESTA my local track ( when I was in NY) runs under NHRA rules, and the tech inspection there includes the gear, any track will probably inspect newer people closer. Now they may also have slightly relaxed rules for test and tune days, but if you go rip into the 10’s you will probably get stopped and have to get race leathers etc.
Start with the helmet, I had mine striped to match.
