Default RE: Charcoal canister

I pulled the canister last night. The hose I had originally asked about was the fresh air line to the cannister. It is connected to nothing, it is just routed up under the tank to hide it. I had to remove the seat and lift the tank to get the line from the backlate out as it runs along the backbone of the frame. Everything else was quite easy. Vacuum cap on the fitting of the backplate and we're good. It will be easy enogh to re-install if an inspection is required. Althought they have this smog C%#P on the Cal bikes there is no annual or bi-annual inspection yet like there is for autos.
Thanks everyone for your input.

Great link to actually 'learn' about this canister. I used this info and part # to purchase the rubber plug for the EFI intake. The canister doesn't really do much and altering (removing) it won't make the bike run like crap or fail inspection. Unless you're in CA...
I removed mine, and have had no problems at all. Its a california model, so what do you mean???
If the bike has less than 7,500 miles on it, and the factory installed the canister,it needs to be in placeto register the bike in CA. If you don't have yearly inspections, you're in the clear. My bike came from CA and had the canister when I took posession. It's gone now...
