Installation Of Slip On Mufflers - Help A Guy out

RE: Installation Of Slip On Mufflers - Help A Guy out
I promise that purchasing new clamps is unecessary provided your current clamps are in proper working order.
It's a glorified hose clamp (not in exact design, but in principle). You can reuse it until it's stripped.
Well... everyone liked the sound of the new pipes. I'm still a little nervous due to the volume... but I gotta say, for $100 shipped these Cycle Shacks sound perdy nice.
Two buddies want me to look up some Cycle Shacks for their bikes. So I suppose thus far that was $100 well spent.
Thanks again everyone.

I hope you got a new set of muffler clamps and did not reuse the old ones, like I did, [sm=bangbang.gif]because you'll have to keep tightening them or they'll fall off. Go ahead and spend the extra $16.00 for a set of new clamps ( like I finally did) and you are set.

I used the same clamps. I don't want to give out bad advice to people... so please someone pipe up and explain why these clamps will not be able to hold their original torque value once reinstalled.
I re-used the original clamps because I was unaware of this potential issue. Not because I was unwilling to spend $20 on new clamps. That'sa small price to pay to keep a part attached to my bike!

I am always switching pipes around, after trying several, I have gone back to plain old cycle shack slip ons on all my bikes. They are cheap, sound good, and work fine. Dont think I can tell the difference in power between those and Vance&Hines 2 into 1.I think theygive a more traditional Harley sound, Just a hair raspy, slight chirpy sound like the old bikes. Same "hose clamps" for ten years on the Heritage never a problem. Just did a tour all over Montana at high speeds, still tight.
Here are the directions:
1- loosen clamps, remove bolts holding mufflers on.
2- Pull mufflers off
3- Install new mufflers
4- Put in bolts, tighten bolts and clamps
