Went for a nice ride yesterday, as it was 70 degrees, and not a cloud in the sky....

On my way to work yesterday they were dumping salt on the roads. But it started pouring last night. I woke up at 3am to the sound of torrential rain and thunder, and it's still pouring now. No question the roads are gonna be nice and clean once it dries up. Getting psyched for '24!!

That is possible where you live. Me and others are still dealing with salt caked roads.

Have had three or four good rains and was ready to ride. Cold front moved in and looks like I will be delayed another week.

We had that for weeks: the rain would wash the salt away and then, whenever it stopped raining, the temperature would drop and salt would be put on the roads again; all very frustrating. However, I finally managed a proper 5 1/2 hour ride on Sunday with friends. But there has been so much rain that, on many occasions, we had to ride through standing water on the roads, and the bike is filthy. I gave it a basic clean yesterday, but I need to do more of that today. At least a good long ride has made that worthwhile.

Ah, the memories... Just across the river from Port Jervis, where the drinking age was 18 in the 1960's...

Ha ha! I think you have a few years on me, John. In the 1960s, I was drinking my mother's milk. 😃

Took the opportunity of a sunny afternoon on Friday to visit the workshop and cafe at Mallory Park with a friend. As you can see, I finally opted for the Progressive 430 shocks; I'm still playing with the preload, but they work fine - only longer trips will confirm whether or not they're really better than stock on our uneven back roads, but at least they're no worse. I also found a Remus muffler to replace my damaged stock one; I'd have preferred it in chrome, but at least it's tidy. It has a removable baffle; with it in, the bike runs great, but it's a bit too quiet. With it out, it's far too loud and pops and bangs horribly on the overrun. I found an alternative baffle on eBay which is a little louder, but not quite loud enough, and produces some modest pops and bangs on the overrun, but nothing worrying. So, that's still a work in progress, but at least I'm set up to enjoy another year of riding.
