Have you ever written up an unbiased comparison of the dyna vs the new era softails? Every time that comes up it seems like the dyna guys say dynas are actually better, and the softail guys say theirs are better. I'm wondering what someone that rides both of them thinks.
Ah, I forgot to mention that the Softail is the wife's. It's a '22 and just turned 1k on the clock. I've ridden it, but not a lot, or hard. It feels small and cramped and I hear that a lot over on the 18+ Softail forum so it's not just me. As far as handling the only thing I can say is the mono shock is light years ahead of the dumb double shock setup that was on my '01 Fat Boy. The 114 pulls like a freight train and it'd probably take my cammed 103. I don't like all the valve train noise from the 4-valve setup or all the plumbing for the oil cooler, there is a LOT going on in that engine. The wife loves it though, she came from an 883 Sporty and wishes she had gotten the Softail in the first place...I just wish they made it in a 107 for her.

Sounds like you'll be doing a 117" or 124" upgrade to your bike next winter.

Funny you mention that, I am planning on doing a hot 110 this coming winter, I'll be good with that. Btw, good to hear from you man!

Oh well, I don't know why unladen sag is a thing anyway.

Sitting sweet! 👌

Think I found the cause of my excessive vibration.

I thought I was safe having an almost last year dyna with only 4k on the odometer, but I'm sure sitting for so long didn't help any.

Dang that's wild. Definitely would have thought it would have gone longer. Mines a 17 with 30k on it. I'm on my second set of motor mounts but probably should have been on set #3. Either way they're fresh for this summer.

I have a '17 with about 6k on the clock and my mounts were like new, I changed them because I was doing a Sputhe. It's the oil and age that get them.

Since I did the swingarm, rear rotor and galfer pads I didn't like how little contact I was getting with the rotor. I tried to take 2 washers out of the stack but the rotor was grazing the metal clip in the caliper so I ended up removing just one. It will give me a little better contact but I think the original pads that came with my M4 have more surface area than the galfer pads. I need to dig them out of the trashcan and give them a look.

Also I'm getting mildly irritated with figuring out the best preload setting on the bitubos.

Lastly, I shipped my legends out to them on a warranty claim (supposedly lifetime) but a couple people I've talked to said after they sent in their shocks legend came at them with a $500 repair bill. If that's the case they can just ship them back to me. I'll toss them in the trash and be out the 40 bucks I already paid for the shipping both ways.
