Default pegs: pins or bolts

On the Dynas, H-D uses a bolt/fiber lock nut to secure the foot pegs, but on some of the touring bikes, they used a pin and a snap ring. I was thinking about buying new foot pegs and noticed this. Any thoughts on switching over to the pins? It makes for a lot "cleaner" look.

Jeff, my dealer put the pins on my rear pegs when I bought them and the pins popped out on a ride. I lost one peg. Since then I went with the bolts...no more probs and I am happy. I don't trust the pins!!

I've got the bolts on my highway pegs and regular pegs. My passenger pegs are the pins. The pins are better looking, but you will have to squeeze the pegs together to get the fit tight enough. The wave washers just don't offer enough friction to hold the pegs up on the passenger rest. As for the others, it would be okay. You have to make sure the C-Clips inserted over the pins correctly.

I recieved myfirst set of pins as a gift frommy father. They came with a set of highway pegs for my XL883. Unfortunately this caused a "sickness". I quickly realized just how bulky the stock bolts look. It didn't take long for the bolts on my standard pegs and passenger pegs to be replaced with pins. Needless to say, the first thingI changed on my FXDBI were those bulky bolts. When I added passenger pegs, I bought pins for those too. It's a sickness. Really it is. And it's contagious.... because my father has them on his RoadKing too.

One of the first things I did to my new Street Bob was change the bolts to pins.
