Default Fxdx pulley bolts snapped

Hello iam new to the site. I read a lot of post about this issue today but wanted to ask if anyone has found a solution. Yesterday I was riding and all 5 pulley bolts backed out and snapped. Luckily I heard it and was able to get off onto the shoulder. The bike locked up after getting off highway. Theirs gotta be a solution to this problem!! What year is the bike?

OEM wheel?

Did you install the bolts?

2000 fxdx
OEM wheel
Harley dealer installed bolts
less than 700 miles on bike after install when this happened. And I had the plate guard on where it keeps the bolts from backing out.

New rim, and new proper grade bolts with the dry coat locking compound done to the correct torque.

Obliviously, the dealership didn't do it correctly.
Rarely do you ever see this unless someone has worked on it.

PS..

For sure..

Welcome Steve.

Hope you enjoy your ride here.

Only as a suggestion, create a signature
line for your
bike, year, model, and all the
code letters.

You can add that bike photo to the signature too.

And also as a suggestion, make your next new post over in the new member welcome area to say hello.

Sounds like a visit to your dealer is in order. All five go at once WOW
Did they install the wheel or just the pulley?
Any other work done along with this?

The solution is most commonly found in the FSM.

How can you tell a new wheel is needed without pictures?

Because the bolts backed off and were sheared off.

The op has good reason to expect the wheel to be replaced.
