NYC ... Marking them is an idea however as you mentioned being behind the bags makes it rather obscure ... Something like a "Stage 8" lock might be an alternative .... By far the best alternative would be safety wire installed correctly .... Good luck

You’re the first person to mention about the stage 8 . Do they make a pulley bolt kit?
I wonder if using heavy conical compression washers like used in stamping die applications may be helpful in this situation ? I've seriously considered doing this on my 17 RK as a preemptive sort of deal.
A 17RK does not have pulley bolts.. It has a damper drive system cast directly into the pulley and wheel.

Interesting, I've never really looked at mine, wonder how much of a pain that system will evolve into with some age & miles. Now I have go take a hard look while I've got her up on the lift.
Still the question does stand for the direct mount systems, those washers are pricey but do work in heavy die stamping applications.
