Default riser bolt tightness?

A little confused on the torque on the handle bar allen head bolts,,,the four[/b] that hold the bars on, the top plate as I call it, read the posts and I think they mean 144-180 INCH lbs on these bolts and NOT 40 FOOT lbs, correct?? Thanks..

Correct. Don't have the manual with me, but the four 5/16" socket head screws are in that range. The two 1/2" hex head bolts down below the top triple tree are in the 30-40 ft-lb range.

rambo, what machine are we working with??

06 service manual says 70-80 inch lbs
for the handlebar clamp screws.

Risers to the trees, book says 30-40 foot lbs.

The 07 manual says 12-18 ft-lb for the top clamp.Snug rear two screws, torque front two screws to spec, torque rear two screws to spec.
Lower two bolts are still 30-40 ft-lb.
