Default Oil residue????

Does anyone else have oil residue @ the lower jug (center)where the motor and tranny meet? Should I be worried or just ride and forget? By the way the bike is an '07 bob...........

Yup! I had the same thing @800 mi..... I called the dealer, talked to the tech, his advice was to try spraying brake cleaner onto a rag and wipe clean the area where they meet. After doing that I keeped checking and there has never been any seepage / residue in that area ever.
Note: they also said if it didn't stop seeping through I would have to bring the bike in and have the gasket replaced
Just my .02 worth
Have a good one

Had the same issue on my 06 LR.. had the tranny neutral safety done and they replaced the gasket at that time, although the seepage was so light it just looked like it was a light discoloration. Just follow bike cops advice...( I did the same thing until the gasket was replaced) ... it will clean up just fine. and unless it gets progressively worse... dont worry about it.. but do keep an eye on it.

Its normal for '06 and above.

They did away with a gasket between the tranny and lower end. The new design develops what looks like oil seepage, but it is just part of the machining process when it was built. As Bikecop suggested, brake cleaner takes it off without hurting the black finish. Once i had mine cleaned, it has not re-appeared (after several thousand miles since it was cleaned).

Frank, in my opinion, you and bikecop need to
find new (read old -as in -experienced)
service technicians.

There is no gasket at the mating surface between motor/trans.
Ask for your money back for the imaginary gasket.

(Through the years,
this subject has been discussed here
almost as much as "vibrations"
and brainiac parts/service "***"ociates)

I agree completely Frank.

Living is how we learn.

Once weaccept that,
the ball is is our own court.

Gullibility is a tool.
Use it like a trap.
Play dumb, thencome downhard, or, walk off,
as the case may be.
But, don't swallow anything without a grain of salt.

Myownself, it's a bad day if I don't learn.
Hopefully the only thing that will stop the learning
is six feet a dirt.
