Default Homemade bags

Has anyone ever tried to make their own saddlebags? I'm on the mother of all low budgets, and can barely keep up with the general maintainence. I take lots of weekend trips, and need to be able to carry more.

Wear a back pack. Not only cheap, but you get a work out while you are riding.
