I've got a '77 that I can start up and ride anywhere, anytime. I also have a 2000 with 66k miles on it. It's never had a major problem other than a rear wheel falling apart, twice.

Most of the older bikes ended up in Europe with a lot of the former Soviet states now bringing in used rather than new. Two years ago half of the bikes that came into Ireland were used. Ten years ago this would hae been about 90%. Now most are new.

I have a 2000 FXDX and it seems my bike is usually the oldest in the group. Where are all those older HDs?

Been there done that in my younger days when I didn't want to spend the money of electric start.
These old bikes were the reason they had gloves with the fingertips out, now days you might as well wear a full leather glove for more protection if you go down. There's nothin for you to adjust like back then.
Glad I ain't kickin no more too.
