I've got a '77 that I can start up and ride anywhere, anytime. I also have a 2000 with 66k miles on it. It's never had a major problem other than a rear wheel falling apart, twice.

These old bikes were the reason they had gloves with the fingertips out, now days you might as well wear a full leather glove for more protection if you go down. There's nothin for you to adjust like back then.
