Default decel popping / blue flames

wasin the garage the other night, adjusting the clutch cable. after a few beers wanted to hear the pipes. i noticed that a quick twist of the thottle i get a decel pop and some really cool flames(2" to 3") from the python exhaust. i currently have the pipes, dealer download and the K&N air cleaner.
1) is this called the stage one (this is what the dealer told me)
2) should i be worried about damage to the motor
3) is it running too rich
4) just starting to really run the motor hard (ride it like ya stole it)
i don't mind the occasional popping unless it is going to do damage to the the motor. the flames, kinda cool at night (if i could see them)

I could be wrong, so someone else can chime in and correct me, but I think the popping on decel is probably because your running slightly lean. With the exhuast and the K&N you are probably putting in more air than the stealer adjusted the download for. But all in all, an occasional popping shouldn't hurt anything, that being said, i would say it should only be occasional and not to drastic of a backfire.

Nope, your engine is running a little rich. The unburnt fuel vapors pools in the exhaust until on decel and a little valve overlap ignites the vapors. I'm running a PCIII and mine is a little richer yet and I can get some 3 footers of blue flame. Pretty cool.

I'd rather have a bike running rich than running lean. The bike has unburn't fuel that is in the cylinders and he probally reved the bike up and the unburnt fuel went our the pipe. He can have it taken care of without a problem. Low restricton exhaust are going to pop a little if he had that too.
Don't be afraid of what you don't know. Find out about it.

Forgive me for not paying full attention to what year bike you have. If its carbuerator you might be able to adjust it or change the jet. If its a computer it can be a download.

That is one of the best Dynas I've seen lately. Deserving of BOTM nomination.

Thanks. I appreciate it. I am glad I read this post. I had the incorrect assumption on the air/fuel ratio when it came to popping and flames.
