Another example of Harley quality craftsmanship
Well, here I was removing my OEM pipes from my 06 Low Rider so I could install the Samson Big Gun III pipes I recently received. After removing the head pipes I had to remove the O2 sensors so that I could re-use them in the new pipes. The rear O2 sensor came out without to much problem owing to the fact that the threads didn't appear to have any anti-seize on them. Now for the front. This one wouldn't budge. Okay, put a little penetrating oil on it to help it out. After getting it out and examining the threads I found that they were bunged up. In two places the threads were stripped away. Can't even chase it to try and re-use it. Have to order new. So if any of you are planning on replacing your OEM pipes be forewarned. You may need new O2 sensor/s if they were not properly installed at the factory. BTW--the threads in the O2 bung of the head pipe looked okay.

Similar thing happened to me; while installing a ThunderMax w/AutoTune on my '06 FXDBI. The rear sensor came out easy, though appearing to lack any trace of anti-seize. The front was another story altogether, which resulted in an unaticipated upgrade. The weld between the bung and the pipe seperated... and I ended up replacing the entire exhuast.

If youhave access to it, a little "mouse milk", available at most any general aviation maintenance shops. It's used to lubricate turbo wastegate pivot points and generally help break loose any fasteners that are subject to high heat. Works rather well too.
