Possible blow by?
I have a 2009 fxdf, with the 96ci and a screaming eagle high flow intake. I’m getting oil coming from where the air filter “housing” mounts to the cylinder. Anyone k ow how to get this to stop? No oil in the filter, just seems to be leaking down the housing and on to my engine. Thanks for any help!

The oil vapors inside the engine go up to the heads and exit through a machined hole and through hollowed bolts , then drawn back into the intake. It appears the bolts with the covers/plugs aren't allowing the vapors back into the throttle bore. I'd search DK Customs (a sponsor here) on external breather kits and how to install them.

breather
cant actually see but is there an orifice between the mounting lug and the intake tract. If not you need to enable the pressure in the rocker covers to vent. If there is a vent then the mounting is loose, tighten some have an Oring so check for any markings. People often vent externally i am at the moment one of the reasons is oil in the filter but yours is a way foreward than most. If it all sreaming eagle it should be set up with breather to intake it would have to be emmision compliant from oem!! If loose put a bit of loctite on threads.

That bracket that you have circled contains the breather bolts described above. There are rubber o-rings between the two mating surfaces (the bracket and the head) those could be dried out and letting oil pass. With that HD intake setup, there is no way for the oil to get back to the intake so it just builds up behind those two chrome covers, pop them off and clean up the mess behind them...and good luck popping them off it sucks! The chrome covers each have two more o-rings on them, so replace those at the same time. And when you're putting it all back together, add a breather kit also as mentioned above. DK is an outstanding dealer and they make/sell them.

Ya, I took it all apart, and the breather bolts weren’t even tight! Going to locktite them, put the o-rings that are missing in and replace those head to bracket o-rings too. I’m thinking of drilling and tapping the bracket to let it go to atmosphere, and plugging the breather holes that go into the throttle body.
