RE: HAND GRIPS
grips where my first mod found good tips on this forum. if your not saving old grips just cut off the left one ,otherwise smsll screw driver and WD40 . pull brake lever ann insert a peice of card board for a spacer so you domt damage the brake light switch. when you take off the right grip be carefull not to lose the brass furrows. lay a towel on the ground in case you drop one.not a hard job take your time and youll be fine happy riding

RE: HAND GRIPS
Changing grips is an easy task - Only thing specialyou need is a torx wrench in a T-27 size to loosen the bolts holding the hand controls - tighten these gently as the specification is somethin like 8 inch pounds.None of my recent HD's had the left hand grip glued on - the way late model HD grips are designed the grip is secured under the hand control which prevents it from moving.
As was noted you need to put a piece of cardboard behind the right lever, just above the pivot point, to prevent damage to the brake switch. Other than that, loosening your throttle cables, removing them from the right grip connectors, reinstallingand readjusting the cablesproperly, it's a piece of cake. Should be able to do it 15 to 30 minutes tops - more if you have a beer or two along the way.
Even though it will add a few dollars to the purchase I'd recommend buying the service manual - while this is not hard to do the manual will spell out the steps nice and clearly.
