Well It does depend on the rider and how your suspension is set up. I have done 450 in a day on a short hop with 2 ruptured discs in my back ( I broke my back the month before I ruptured my discs,LOL)with no complaints. But I do run a softer shock setting than most. I have ridden about 4500 miles since april on my bike.

I think the stock seat requires getting use to or maybe it needs to break in.

The reason I say this is that I went for 3 hours (150 miles) and I was starting to cramp up a little as well. I'm trying to get as much miles over the next few weeks, so I can knock out the 1000 mile service before my trip to Colorado (2000+ miles travelling from Houston). I'm prayng that I won't back down, because I was pretty tired today.

i too bought a mustang (13" wide) for my bike...I mounted it, sat on it and removed it. It's been in the box ever since. I didn't like how it positioned me to the pegs/bars in comparison to the stocker.

I just did 2 750 mile days with the stock seat and although not great, I didn't really find it to be a problem. I think having 2 different positions (mid and forwards) for your feet makes a big difference on how comfortable the seat feels on a long ride.

I did add a sundowner pillion for the wife

I usually put around 150 miles every sat. with my stock seat, yesterday we did 220 and still no complaints. I have the sundowner also but used it only for a few rides. It is defintley butt friendly, but like the looks of the stock.

The sundowner is a great seat. Just be careful about loud pipes. You don't want to cause a car driver on their CELL Phone to swerve and silence you. Cell Phone users get pissy if their conversations with their bud get interrupted. They can not help it siince they are cooking their brain cells. ( Do not operate any Radio Communication device with the Antenae inside the vehicle. The signal gets reflected back to you. Hand Held and interior mounted Radar units have cost lives due to cancer.) The FCC should have a listing on the tolerable Specific Absorbtion Rate in the Cell Phone Frequency range.

100 miles? I thought you said "Long ride"!
You just need to build up your butt callouses. When I first got my bike, I experienced a little soreness, but it went away after a few days and hasn't returned. I ride almost daily though.. the only time I don't is if it's raining or if I have to play schoolbus driver. I still have the stock Dyna seat on, I find it to be comfortable.

I don't think there is a Carl Juniors within 500 miles, let alone 100 miles. Thats a Western place to eat, not eastern. I saw them all over Phoenix, Tempe, Mesa and Chandler last spring. I even tried the food there, once. That was once to many times for me, lol.

I found an Arbys 12 miles away when in a cage but by bike it was 182 miles - go figure.

Now I am getting hungry, talking about this food instead of a stock seat and a sore ***. lol

My first "long" ride. 150 miles in around Helen, GA. I thought the stock solo seat on my 07 FDX was OK. The biggest difference was the standard height quick release windshield. I used it for the first time on this ride and it sure made life easier over 50 mph. Except for pub crawls,I will leave it mounted.

At this time, I'm not interested in aftermarket pipes. I don't see where that would add to the experience. A better seat with be money better spent.
