Default New to me 00 FXDS-CON

Sold my 01 Low Rider a couple weeks ago and went on the hunt for another project. Found this absolutely perfect condition 00 Convertible up in the Colorado mountains last weekend. 14k miles and by far the cleanest bike I’ve owned of any age. Every piece of chrome and aluminum is flawless, fork legs, wheels, frame rails all pristine. Has all the geezer add ons too which I’m wrestling with keeping on there with my own usual mods. The bags are the only crusty part since they’re faded but I’m dropping them off next week to be re-dyed and tightened up. Stay tuned for the makeover.

Man, that thing is absolutely mint! Looking forward to the transformation.

FWIW, I kinda like the lightbar, with maybe a smaller windshield I think it would look different but cool. That being said, I'm weird so take that with a grain of salt or two...lol

Sweet deal. When I opened this thread and saw the first pic I immediately thought that I needed to PM you and see if you wanted to sell the bags. Then I read what you wrote. I wish HD still made those. Congratulations on the bike.

Nice bike, I couldn't bring myself to change anything on it! Maybe have another fairing to put on it but the original would be great on long rides and I dig the passing lamps and those bags are awesome for sure, glad you are restoring them!

Thanks fellas. Yeah I’ve been staring at it trying to convince myself to leave it alone but that was never gonna happen. I did manage to talk myself out of doing some things though. Was gonna powder coat the front end and wheels but not now. Took em apart to install all new RaceTech internals and no way am I even removing the reflectors. Clean em when I’m done and back they go. New tires and some different rotors only so they’ll be done soon. The PO had a HD factory lowering kit installed so thankfully he kept the original tubes, swapped the RT internals and some 2”over dampener tubes in for a little lift. Putting 13.5” shocks out back. Dude even kept the original kickstand so the lean won’t be too bad when I finish. The light bar is gonna stay for now, the windshield in I’m the fence about. It’s massive and kinda hard to see since my line of sight is exactly at the top of it. Either I’ll find a different, narrower and lower one or keep it on the shelf and go without. Have a bunch more stuff showing up next week, so I’ll post more as it happens. These were from yesterday.
