Default 2" Tank Lift - check your crossover hose!

First of all, I want to say Jackyl's tank lift ROCKS! Best inexpensive mod ever.

That being said - I want to point out to all who have a 2" tank lift (any manufacturer) with the stock crossover tube/hose that you may want to take a peek to make sure your crossover hose is ok. While cleaning my tank, I noticed that the frame was cutting into the crossover tube (in two spots - on left side of frame and on right side)... no doubt from vibration and the fact that it rubs up against the frame, now, with the lift.

My quick, 'temporary' solution, was to cut a couple small pieces of clear plastic tubing, sliced each length-wise down one side, and then wrapped each one around the crossover hose right where it rubs against the frame. I used small zip ties to keep them in place. You can't see it unless you really look for it. Lame, I know...but I went with what I had on hand in my garage.

One of these days, I'll probably replace the crossover with a longer piece...until then, I ride.

I didn't like the way the hose layed against the neck when I did my lift. Did kind of the same thing, little larger fuel line cut long ways. Had it for awhile now and have not seen any cutting. Anybody got a better solution? [/align]

Switch it out for a braided line

I would think the braided line rubbing/vibration against the frame would remove the paint on the frame leading to rust and corrosion. Am I wrong?

I just installed my tank lift last weekend and noticed that the line was also resting on the frame. I want to get a longer piece gas line and install it. What is the inside diameter of the gas line needed?

Thanks

Larry

I was wondering about that when I installed my 2" lift last week. I'll be watching it. Thanks for the heads-up.

Noticed that too, when I installed mine. My temp fix was a a piece of black tubing cut length wise and wrapped around the line. Got an extra mouse pad i'm gonna cut up and glue on the underside of the frame where it rubs. Hope that works, if not then a longer fuel line.
