Default Trailer Rental -Help Please

I will be moving from NY to GA soon and need some advice. (I am anticipating many responses that say "just ride it", butthat is not an option.) Can one rent a uhaul trailer and put a bike in it? Has anyone here done it? I know on the uhaul website there is a cycle trailer but that is for local rental only; I obviously need a one-way rental. Any other options for companies that may rent a one-way enclosed trailer that would fit a bike.
Thanks.

I had to transport my Bike as well. I looked at the Uhaul motorcycle trailers and I wouldn't haul hay on them...small cheap lawnmower tires...don't risk hauling your bike on a cheap *** Uhaul trailer. Find an enclosed trailer...you'll have much more peace of mind.

I would also recomend the same as harley_gopher.. dont risk your HD on a P.O.S. U haul clunker... get yourself a good used trailer somewhere and sell it when you get to where ever it is that you need to be. It'd definately be worth it to me.

Just my .02$

I would invest in a good trailer...Kendon trailers fold up so storage shouldn't be an issue...You'll never know when you may need one...A buddy and I went in on one a few years back...We keep it at his place as I don't have a garage...Came in handy when he had an electrical issue and I had to pick him up two hours away from home...Later

Usually you can find a fold up 4X8 flat bed trailer for about $250 on Ebay. I got one there, didn't take that long to build it, yep you do have to assemble it yourself, but works very well for wife's bike. Not only that, but then you get to keep it or can sell it when you get to GA.

You may want to look into having a hauler move it for you. There are some very reputable bike haulers out there, and for what you pay for a trailer, you could probably get it done.

I know people stated that they do not like the Uhaul trailers but I know a friend that took one across country with out a problem. But if you are worried then rent a box body van and a vehicle dollie and pull your vehicle behind it with the motorcycle inside the van.

i agree with airborne 350G rent a truck put the bike and what belongings you are taking with and trailer the second vehicle. the bike will be protected and out of sight out of mind in case you stop over for an evening.

i would agree with Mr. Castle buy a good used one and sell it when you get there.
my mom got a new car here and wanted to pay me to drive it 800 miles to her house and fly me home. they had a pick up here so we just picked up a car dolly and they pulled it home. they sold the car dolly when they got and made a little bit on it.
oh if you are in the military i think they will move it for you in your household goods for free.
yu can get acheap uused open trailer in good shape for less than 500 and you wll always have one in the future. i always look for a reason to buy something new.
have a safe trip
