folks I need some help. I am looking for a good luggage rack to sit over my fender. I have the stock solo seat, and would like a powder coated black rack.
In the 07 HD catalog the rack they have fits 06 and later models (detachable solo rack #53511-06). I would like a detachable, but will mount it to the fender if it's the best out there.

I found this rack at very good price, but it mounts in the center and I am concered it will weaken in time.

I also have a couple of questions about this rack...
does a luggage rack that mounts to the fender tend to scratch paint?
since it is center mounted, in time will it teeter totter?

I like the Motherwell, looks great. It doesn't move, but I would put more than the recommended 10 lbs on it.

 

I use the hell out of mine and have had no problems.

 

I have an 07 StreetBob with a sissy bar. I use the chrome 5 bare luggage rack. Works great.

Motherwell works great ... very well made ... you'd have to try really hard to bend it, it will support much more tha 10lb imo
