Default Clutch lever rubbing hand grip

Spoiler

So I noticed today my clutch lever is wearing a tear in my hand grip which need to be replaced. Does my clutch lever need adjusting or do I just not put the death grip on it? I’m learning to work on my own bike so, yeah, I don’t much. Thanks.

Your lever is tearing your grip?
I think a pic could be helpful here.

when I squeeze the lever it comes into contact with the grip, which has worn a hole/tear into the rubber where the metal hits the the grip.

OEM lever? All the HD levers I've seen are flat/smooth on the sides facing the grip. Hard to fathom that much wear on your grip, unless the grips are beginning to deteriorate after 20 years. (They do this.)
Or, you're using "Kung Fu" grip on your clutch lever! Is your lever exceedingly loose in the perch at the pivot? Even this would be a tough sell, based on your pic tho.

the lever is smooth and I’m sure the grip is oem, the bike is a 2012. I probably do grip it pretty tight. I do a lot of PGR formation riding and constantly on the clutch between 1st and 2nd. Wish they would go a wee bit faster in the procession.

ok, so no adjustment, just replace them and call it a day then. Thanks.

Luckily, those grips are cheap. If you decide to do the change over, yourself, Aquanet aerosol hairspray works perfectly on installation.

You can take-up slack in the cable or turn in your clutch rod a 1/4 turn.
Unless it's a hydraulic clutch, then I can't help you.

Do a search on Google for a you tube video on adjusting the clutch. Pretty simple, do it on an over night cold engine.
