I have read many of these solutions.. and all are sound in my opinion.. [sm=smiley20.gif]I had a similar problem with mine and followed Muds advice... after heating the bike up... I used an impact driver only I "DROVE" a size 30 torx head into the size 27screw head(after breaking my 27 [sm=headbang.gif]bit) and they all came out. I cant believe your stealer told you that... drill them yourself and...[sm=icon_blah.gif]... what a bunch of goofs... I would MAKE them fix this issue.. they were happy to see you when you bought and paid for the bike with your hard earned cash.. they should be happy to help you with this problem.
On a side note I have been thinking about "developing" or creating a derby cover that will have a small refill nozzle with a screw on cap on it.. placing the nozzle at the top of the cover in an insignifigant and molded fashion. Should make refills with a small funnel a snap. Wonder why HD never thought of it? Hmmmm?

I did stop by sears on the way home yesterday and bought 3 more torx bits. I tried all the info from here and proceeded to break all 3 bits.

You need high performance tools,
if you've broken eight of the light service bits.

Yep, if you aint tried an impact driver, you aint tried everything. Also, you might try using an air ratchet or impact gun, just cut back on the air pressure. That works alot of times.

brass drift on head of screws.tap with hammer.little sharp blows. not too heavy so you crack the case.about a dozen or so times each screw can just be enough to release from thread.then try torx bit again. tapping bit into the screw.have done this before and screws have then been finger tight. drilling is only a last resort scotty

Since when did anyone add oil through the Derby Cover ?????
For God's sake top up the oil (correctly) and take it back to the dealer for a solution.

I wish I could get oil back in, but you add the oil through the derby cover, I do have the new gasket for the cover. Im going to call my dealer again and talk to a manager because somethings not right, the cover on my sportster came right off. I believe they supposed to be tightned to 30 inch pounds.
I just dont have any way of moving the bike now. I did try a impact, The one you hit with a hammer but the bit broke.

As far as the bolts go, they wouldn't come out of my previous superglide either. I ended up cutting slots in them with a dremel then taking them out with an impact.
