Default Passenger seat installation gone wrong?

Hello everyone, I just installed a separate rear passenger seat on my 2007 Superglide. The rear pillion simply screws to the back of the stock seat, and then screws into the unplugged rear mounting hole. The only problem is that the two seat assembly now does not fasten to the bike anywhere in the middle and feels loose. It is definitly not coming off, but itdoes worry me. Anybody else have any suggestions on if I possibly installed it wrong? This is my first Harley and I defintly don't want to screw it up.

I installed one of the passenger pillions on my Super Glide when I first got it. I shared the same concerns as you have listed here. I did a couple rides totaling maybe 400 miles with no issues. I did eventually go to a one piece, two-up seat. From what you have described, you have installed it correctly and shouldn't have any problems.

While I don't have an HD 2-piece seat, mine is a Mustang Vintage Solo and pillion, but I get the same feeling. I know it's locked down both front and back, but it still feels a little loose.

Thanks guys, as long as I know it isn't going to fly off, I feel better now.

The much-maligned grab strap actually makes it feel a little more solid. At least if you install it so it's snug over the pillion.
