Does an Apple a day really keep the Dr away?
is a bird in the hand really worth two in the bush?

Robert D. Raiford of the John-Boy and Billy Show says they don't. I've heard his commentaries against loud pipes many times.

I'm inclined to think loud pipes are a wash. For every driver warned, a rider 'doesn't' hear the sound of a threatening vehicle from behind.

If Raiford said it, bank it.

I know for a fact that my pipes saved my *** more then a few times. A quick flip of the throttle once or twice has stopped alot of em from switching lanes right into me. and I like 'em loud.
...and Raiford's an old guy......

I know of some that get a false sense of security just because they put load pipes on their bike. There's always those that don't pay attention or look out for bikes, no matter how load the pipes are. I've had several occasions where they probably helped and many more that wouldn't even hearthem ifthey were right in front of them. just my .02 cents.

And Raiford doesn't like much of anything.....

I never believed that statement until I saw it in person just 2 days ago. I was behind 2 cars and a st bob, any way the car was on this guys a$$ for about a mile, finally, I guess he had enough and I think he dropped a gear and pulled the throttle and that car backed up about 50 ft. I was impressed. It was loud.
