How to get rid of TSM
Hola amigos !
After bying a new battery, I noticed a tiny spark when connecting the battery neg cable to my dyna 2002 chassis.
So I wanted to measure the current drawn by the bike' s circuit,. Spark= current. My meter bridged between the neg from the battery to the bike chassis showed 25mA, with the ignition key to "off".
I started to investigate for finding out that removing the TSM solved the problem, though there is still .09mA remaining in the circuit, with TSM removed as well as all the fuses. My bike won't start without the TSM . Is there a way to get rid of the TSM by adding a small circuit for the bike to start ? I must add that I have modded the flashers to work without the TSM.
Thanks !

To eliminate the TSM from this circuit, just ground the wire to a good ground point.
Best way would be to de pin the tan/green wire from the relay connector and zip tie it out of harms way.
Install a new pinned wire into the start relay connector, route the wire to ground.
This way your original wiring harness remains intact, in case someone decides to replace the TSM.

The ground wire from the start relay goes directly to ground on pre 2001 models, but on 2001 and later the TSM/TSSM module controls the ground for the start relay.

Similar to Jacques, I initially removed my TSM because one side quit (and failed the FSM testing procedure). A replacement at the time was over $100 (vs $10 for a generic flasher module) and I thought that was ridiculous so I worked around it. Eventually dropped in a Badlands module with more functions, then a Motogadget unit with even more. Full custom wire harness from bow to stern now...LOL!
