2014 Street Bob nearly impossible to find neutral?
#31
First Harley? Reason I ask is that every one I have owned has been a bit troublesome finding neutral...my Switchback is easy my Superglide not so much...one thing not mentioned but something you need to look at is the primary chain tensioner...the stock one over tightens the chain making neutral all most impossible to find, not to mention the stress on the bearings...
do yourself a favour and replace with a good aftermarket one...baker or Hayden...I run Hayden’s on both my dyna’s

bro we have to get to the bottom of this before you waste your time and money...
step 1: bike turned OFF, pull in clutch lever and place gear in neutral.
IF the bike does not go into neutral while turned off, then you do have a more serious issue to address
IF your bike does go into neutral while turned off...
step 2: turn bike ON in neutral gear.
step 3: pull in clutch lever, place bike in 1st gear, and KEEP HOLDING CLUTCH
step 4: while in 1st and still holding clutch, use your right hand to continuously blip the throttle while simultaneously using your left foot to shift gear peg from 1st to neutral.
too easy.
my 2014 fxdb started with mid controls, switched to forward controls for a few years, and went back to mid controls.
this should be your resolution

I guess I am an idiot, I did not get the joke until later in the day. I too have ripped it in front of people only to rev bomb in neutral instead of getting second gear. Thank you sir. I apologize for being rude.

Per Fskitch and his adivce, I ordered harley standard forward controls and will be installing those with the correct taller transmission linkage. I will also be changing the fluids. Hopefully this resolves my issues. The bike seems to be wonderful otherwise.
Thanks everyone for your input

Having the long lever on the pedal and the short one on the shift drum increases the force you have to apply to the pedal and also increases the speed the drum turns at, making it easy to blow right through the neutral position.

This seems to be where we are at. Impatiently waiting for parts to come.

You have the 2006 and later forward control kit with the original trans shift lever. The 2006 and later forward control kits have a longer front and rear lever. The 2005 and earlier kits have a shorter front lever and use the original shorter rear lever.
Measure your front lever eye to eye, if it is over 6 inches a quick fix would be to drill another hole lower on the front lever (about 6 inches eye to eye), that would work with your original rear lever, just like the 2005 and earlier kits.
I have the 2005 and earlier kit on my 2006 Low Rider.
