Default Heat pinging

Recently picked up an 07 FXDB. After shut off, it 'heat pings' quite a bit. More of a tick tick tick tick, sound. I'm in Florida where it gets pretty hot outside, but I was just wondering if this is something that I should worry about. (grew up riding dirtbikes, but this is my first Harley) Any input on whether this is normal, or if it is something that needs attention - would be appreciated. Thanks all

Mine does it as well. 2015 dyna street bob with the 103, I believe its just the metal on the engine contracting as it cools.

Its mainly the heat shield on the pipe that makes the sound. Nothing new.

I don't remember ever having a bike that didn't do that.

Me either. Mine did it worse with stock mufflers. That’s because the mufflers on Softails and Dynas have cats in them. Those things get HOT!

Any pinging you want to worry about is when you're riding, not when it's shut off.

I was in my garage this morning getting into my car to go to work when I heard a loud PING come from the exhaust on my bike. I hadnt ridden the bike since Saturday! Maybe its possessed.
