Handlebars not clamping to risers problem
Hi all, my riser clamps and handlebars arent clamping as tight as I want. The bars will shift if u apply some body pressure to them. Sporting 14inch bars.
Is there any material or rubber glue I could apply between the bars and risers to help enhance the friction between the two metal items to avoid handlebar movement?
Riser bolts are tight, this recently only happened when I hit a bump in the road and I had to brace my body on the bars which applied excessive force on the bars unexpectedly due to my body weight pulling on the bars as I hung on for dear life from being launched. Since then the bars have not been as tight with the riser clamps.

This is the control of your bike. I wouldn't half *** it. I just fixed a friend's bike with the same problem. Someone here said "keep it flat" and that is good advise. Use a sheet of good emory cloth layed out on a hard flat surface to take some material off the top clamp. It doesn't take much.
But, If the knurl is gone on your bar's they need to be replaced.

Just a follow up.
So I took it all apart...and one of my mistakes was I had powdercoated the riser clamp black (from chrome). The paint was on the knurls which made the friction contact less abundant. I took some sand paper and sanded off all the paint that had chipped in the knurls and underbelly of the riser claim. It was a hot mess of chipped paint between the knurls and riser clamp. Extra slippery too.
So far so good. The bars are not moving now.
*My advice so people dont make my mistake. Dont paint the underside of the riser clamps.
Pretty stupid of me, I'm surprised the bars didnt give away earlier. I've had them on for about 2 years now.
