Default Is this sprocket defective?

I am currently doing a 30/70 sprocket change on a13 wg, Surdyke sent me a 70 tooth rear sprocket that I'm not sure if it is defective. This pic shows what I think a new sprocket shoult look like.

Notice the top of the teeth
Is this thing going to eat my belt or am I wrong?

Sorry, really can’t tell from the pictures but does it feel rough or course to the touch? If it’s really rough, then it might wear the belt faster...again it’s a hard call unless you had two brand new ones in front of you to compare.

The tops of the teeth are very coarse. They easily file a fingernail!

Therein lies your answer. Send the pictures and concerns to the supplier and see what they say!

The tops of the gear teeth will wear into the belt until they're seated, but the actual pressure contact points are in the grooves.

I've done that and am awaiting an answer. How selfish of them not to answer me at 3 AM!

I realize that the grooves do the work. My concern is the tops will cut into the belt before they seat in. The tops are around 60 grit sand paper. I really don't want a broken belt in bumf*ck. Pulling the inner primary roadside is something I'd rather avoid. Just not up for that much fun!

That's a classic example of poor hard chrome plating. Do not even think it will wear in. It will eat the belt very quickly. Don't waste your time send it back.

Surdyke has stepped up to bat and will be solving the problem. Major props to them!
