Default Inner primary removal

Howdy. I am in the middle of removing my primary on my 2000 FXDX and have run into a block. I am having trouble getting my clutch basket bolt (picture attached) our due to it free spinning. I havent figure out a way to lock it down. If any one has any suggestions or tip/ tricks that would be greatly appreciated.

Put the bike in gear, have someone press the back brake and hit it with the impact gun.

I actually was able to find the manual online and that’s exactly what it said and it work amazingly. Now just to struggle with the compensator. Thank you!

I pulled it off in hopes that it would help because I was being stupid and frustrated.

How did you pull the hub, and leave the outer shell?

Was able to stop the rotation with a piece of wood and used a long socket to pull the 5 bolts.

The hub is a press fit to the outer shell via the clutch bearing...confused...they don`t come off separately, they are removed as one unit, then separated in a press.

Hit the compensator with an impact. It may take a bit, but it will come off.

As a last resort, check the service manual...
