Default Speedo Error 'L IP'

Does anyone know what this error is? It pops up as soon as I turn the ignition on. For the first 1-2 seconds the hand controls work then stop responding.

Tim, welcome to the forum from central Texas.

The speedo is reading "tip" which means the bike tipped over or the bike thinks it tipped over. The bank angle sensor (BAS) is reset by cycling the ignition OFF and ON with the bike upright. If that fails, the BAS may be at fault. It is part of the BCM (body control module) or TSM/TSSM (turn signal/security module) depending on the year of your bike.

There is some information here.

If the error continues to show take your bike to the dealer or your Indy for further diagnostics.

Thank you! I was actually working on the bike this weekend and I had the BCM dangling by the wire harness. I put it back in it's proper spot and everything's working fine now. I searched for a couple of hours and couldn't find any mention of that error. Thank you again!

Read the thread. I was working on the bike and the bcm was in a position it didn't like.

Logic tells me the older bikes have the bank angle sensor in the signal /alarm sensor

Now it's in the BCM. So depending on year, root of it could very.

ADpete, Welcome to the Forum. Just as a suggestion make your next new post over in the new member welcome area and say hello.

yeah, that is what I found.
I have my bike stripped down to the wiring.
I had the signal/alarm on its side and I found I could turn the fault on and off.
But 😮‍💨 I still have not fix my original problem.
When I turn the bike off, the location lamp and speedo stay illuminated and occasionally the tail lights as well.

Take the key switch apart.
