Default Brake line replacement

Does anyone know of a way to change out the front brake lines on a Wide Glide with ABS without getting any air in the system? I going to replace the brake fluid on my Wide Glide and at this time I'm going to put some Magnum braided lines on, I have watch some good vids on YouTube on how to do this with ABS. It would seem to me that when I go to replace the line there is a chance of getting air in the system at the splitter (for a lack of better terms) where the two brake lines go back to the ABS module. Any help would be GREATLY appreciated.

I can't think of anyway you can replace lines without getting some air into the system. You could minimize it by prefilling the lines which is probably be a bit messy but once you crack a fitting your chances of getting air is high. You'll have to bleed it out.

You’ll get air in the system if you’re changing lines. If you don’t wanna deal with the hassle retain your brake line

I swapped to MS lines when I swapped bars on my ‘16 FXDLS, I also replaced my calipers with new Brembo radial calipers. I was able to bleed the brakes as normal. The brakes work great and no idiot lights come on and no codes were generated. I think the main thing is to not power up the bike before the brakes are bled. Turning power on will activate the ABS module and can suck air into it, which could give you problems.

I wouldn’t worry about getting air in the system. It’s very easy to bleed. That being said, disconnect your battery and DO NOT RECONNECT IT until you’re finished bleeding the brakes. If you accidentally turn the ignition switch to run, air will go into the abs module and you will have to take it to the dealer to have it bled. With the battery disconnected, there is zero chance of this happening

Also use a mighty-vac to bleed/flush your lines.

On a bike with ABS, when you replace brake lines it's recommended to not only bleed the brakes but to purge air via the ABS HCU purge routine.

You USED to have to go to the dealership to do this. We offer a very low cost (and great tool for your annual brake fluid flush) to handle this.

I have had a few customers buy our utility for specifically this reason (i.e. installing ape hangers and need to install longer lines). Lots of happy faces!
