Here's a short video walkaround of a completed swap:

I don't think anything beats the peanut tank profile for a proper chopper. I hope you manage to do this, and post pictures!
Thanks bro

I can’t add any technical help, but it looks badass. F-k the haters, so your hike how you want. People are so quick to judge. “You cant drive across the country on that thing because it has a smaller fuel capacity”. Who cares. Maybe the guy never rides that far and it’s his bike so....?

Anyway, search around, there’s some threads. Here’s some inspiration of Sportster tanks that are not on sportsters:

Here's my big twin with a sportster tank in 1973.
It's not a recent phenomena

You can still go cross country, you just have to stop more often to refuel. So you stop every 90-100 miles instead of every 150-200. It's not a bad Idea to get off and stretch your legs a bit anyway. I've done 4,000 mile trips on Sportsters, same principal.

I agree screw the haters, make your bike the way you want it.

And fwiw, I measured both my 1998 Dyna and my 2006 Sportster this afternoon, looks like the width on the front tabs on the tank are both 4.25", so you just have to fab something for the rear mounting point.

Yep, not a tourer, strictly a light to light guy so I don't care. Peanut tanks look sweet and anything is better than the split tanks if you like tinkering with your own bike.
