My Wide Glide has a custom front end. Raked trees 5 deg, longer tubes, kept the 21" size wheel.

It's perfectly fine at 70. And it's stable straight as fast as I've taken it. I start noticing some instability over 75 on sweeping curves with bumps or dips. Not sure if that's due to the longer tubes or the rake or a combination of the two. It's also way harder to ride real slow, it wants to fall off to the side a lot easier. I've gotten used to it though. It's definitely the hardest bike to ride that I've ridden. Now when I hop on someone elses ride it's like it has training wheels.

Bottom line.....I built a high compression rigid stroker about three years ago. The frame was stock rake to Harley Low Rider. I added 5 degree trees and it did make the front end look a lot better and gave it a noticable difference. (Keep in mind 5 degree rake will equal lowering the rear 1 1/2 inches in the rear to keep the bike level.) Anyhow, the handling was more than fine and cornering, hard riding and such did not effect the bike's ride in a negative way at all. Listen to your local shop if they are telling you it will work fine.
By the way, I also had a 21 incher on the front end, too. You'll be fine. Just do it and enjoy the new look of your scoot.
I just bought a 99 Wide Glide and thought of how cool it would look on mine eventually, too.
Good luck
