I do not believe it is a canbus bike. it is a 2010 FXDC. I didn't think they added canbus to dynas until 2012. I may be wrong, as clearly, I am new to the big twin scene.

Your turn signals and tail light should share the same ground wire from the harness. On my 07 streetbob, the tail light housing is where the turn signal connectors and the taillight plug into; that connects to a wire harness, that connects to the main harness under the seat. Obviously, your harness has been butchered by the PO.

You have the option as stated above to create your own ground via a spade connector, but ground is ground. Sharing a ground wire and/or creating a new ground via frame should not cause the issue you are seeing, unless the ground is broken or floating, or you grounded the incorrect wire.

I would verify that your V/BN wires for the signals are wired correctly from signal housing to harness. They are the same wire color, but they should not be wired together; they should each be their own circuit. It's hard for me to tell from the pictures what's going on with them. Also, some people, like the PO should not be allowed to work on bikes.

After hooking up both turn signals you need to reset the TSSM.

If your security light stays on for a prolonged period of time, if you have changed your battery or disconnected your battery when fitting components such as LED turns & if you have fitted LED turns without a load equalizer, you will need to reprogram your OEM Module.

step # 1. move handle bar kill switch to off position

step # 2. turn your ignition key: on-off, on-off then on

step # 3. hit the left turn signal twice.
your turn signals and indicator light will flash 1 - 3 flashes

step # 4. hit the right turn signal once.
turn signals and indicator light will flash once.

step # 5. hit the right turn signal once.
turn and indicator signals will flash twice.

step # 6. hit right turn signal once.
turn and indicator signals will flash three times.

step # 7. hit left turn signal once.
turn and indicator signals flash to indicate error code
(see error code thread)

step # 8. to now clear codes, hit left turn signal and hold down for 6 seconds until confirmation.
turn and indicator signals flash twice.

step # 9. turn the ign switch to off and you're done

Agreed, especially on the bold above. I think I have a solution - I now have a line on a stock, unmolested wire harness for the rear lights / blinkers. I will use that to essentially start from scratch. Thanks for the response above, though.

Thanks for the instructions. Tried it, but that wasn't the ticket. However, I'm going to pocket this info for use later.

I'm in mobile so copy paste from PDF didn't work. But this reminded me of a reset procedure I saw somewhere else.

Go to this link, scroll down and click instructions. PDF for tssm reset.

I wonder if there was some kind of signal decoder and load in the brake light mount.

This is for conditioning the TSSM for the load equalization.

Standard Reset Procedure
1.
Turn ignition on, but do not start the bike.
2.
Turn on the RIGHT side turn signal and let it flash 2 times.
3.
Turn on the LEFT side turn signal and let it flash 2 times.
4.
Turn on the RIGHT side turn signal again and let flash a minimum
of 10 times.
5.
Turn the ignition key off and then back on.
6.
Check the function of the turn signals. If rapid flash on the turn
signals continues, follow the second procedure.
Secondary Reset (If Needed)
5.
Turn on the LEFT side turn signal again and let flash a minimum of
10 times.
6.
Turn the ignition key off and then back on.
7.
Check the function of the turn signals.

I take it the replacement signals are single filament?
