Default Thinking about buying a Street Bob

I am thinking about buying a Street Bob as my first Harley purchase and my first motorcycle in more than 20 years.

I would it to commute to work frequently, about 30 miles one way. And I might take a 300 mile one way trip on a weekend from time to time.

Anyone have any feedback on the Bob with these riding habits in mind?

Thanks,

Great bike for what you have in mind. I got the Bob too (gloss black), mostly for how the black wrinkle cases look and their ease of maintenance.

I love my bob, but stock I don't consider it great for commuting. I think saddle bags make a good commuter bike. Not that you can't get them, but for me I like the "naked" look of the street bob.... IMHO of course.

For me, I would get one of the other dynas that I think look better with bags, since that is a requirement for me to commute And I do have the advantage of having a bike for commuting.

If you go with the bob, you can get a rack (motherswell is great). I have a Cortech back if needed, I just don't care for the look with it on.

I have a 06 Street Bob, great ride around town, also got some detachable saddle bags and a sissy bar/t-bagfor multi-day runs. Striped down for around town/one day runsor bagged down for multi-days runs. Best of both worlds.

A friend of mine just got a bagger for a second bike, did a day run with him on Satruday. typical bagger, brought to much CHIT with him. Always waiting for him after stops to get all the crap put back in the bags. When he rides his Dyna WG on a short day runhe's the first one ready to go cuz he can't carry all that crap.

I ride mine to work all the time. Awesome on gas (averaging 52 mpgs), 22 miles each way.

Don't buy one, that way I don't see many more on the road ;-)

Really though, love mine...probably my favorite out of all the bikes that I have owned thus far!
