Good point. I guess I was also thinking along those lines without really knowing it. Lord knows I've spent more than a little time, money, and effort on polished parts. I was just trying to add contrast with minimal weight and heat-trapping. My dad used to get down on guys with a lot of chrome because he was all about power and speed. If it didn't show results on the dyno or track, it had no value. He had no eye for style, tho. I guess I try to marry the two ideas.

**** weather today and they were staring at me, so I filled the dimples with flat black engine paint. They'll be impossible to clean anyway. Might as well get it over with.

FWIW, a Q-Tip fits in the dimples perfectly if one wanted to keep them clean.

I chose the 6pt just in case I ever have to get an open end wrench on them. Access to the rear nuts can be a hassle and I wanted to make it as easy as possible.
Looks like ARP 300 series is 304 work hardened. Their stainless nuts I believe are -286 stainless steel (UNS S66286) which is a precipitation hardening alloy

A face centered cubic arrangement of atoms Stainless Steel 300 series is not heat-treatable. But heavy reduction (power dumping), in the cross section, during forging causes a dramatic increase in strength. This is the process ARP uses to make 304 Stainless Steel reach 170,000 psi UTS.

I'll take your word for it, BB. Thanks for the info. I don't know much about metallurgy.
